Tiger Time at the Mayes County Fair

Roosevelt 2nd graders recently took a field trip to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Mayes County Fair.  In the exhibit hall, students were able to see creations submitted by their fellow Tigers as well as other entries from across Mayes County.

Clayton Vanderford, a 3rd grader at Roosevelt Elementary School, won a second place ribbon for his Lego castle, and his older sister, Riley Vanderford, a 7th grader at Pryor Middle School, took home the junior 4H champion ribbon for her bottle top fish craft.

The students also had some fun while learning about farming and ranching as they walked through the animal barns where some of Pryor’s  4H and FAA students housed their show animals.

The Pryor Ag students had a great week at the Fair.  Pryor Middle School Student Braylon Johnson, “stepped it up another notch this year, and his hard work leading up to the show paid off! Not only did he get his first belt buckle he won two!”

Jarrett Cowan, Pryor High School, had three sheep in the show. Cowan’s attention to showmanship was rewarded with a 4th place win with his hamp, 3rd with his shrop, and 8th with his cross. Cowan’s hamp ended up in the premium sale. There were 141 sheep in the show this year.
