They’re there before the actors take the stage, before the lights go up, and long after the audience has gone home—making sure every cue, scene, and spotlight is just right. Who are they? The Stagecraft Crew at Pryor High School.
Under the direction of Instructor Jim Bryant, these hardworking students are the unseen force behind every PHS theater production. They design and construct sets, set the stage for each scene, manage the lighting and sound equipment, and ensure every performer is mic’d up and ready to deliver their lines.
The audience might not realize the amount of time and teamwork it takes to prepare the stage and performers for each show. Our stagecraft students develop not only technical theater skills, but also problem-solving, communication, and responsibility as they work together to ensure everything is ready for showtime.
From painting backdrops to operating spotlights, the Stagecraft Crew is an essential part of every production. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence ensure that the show truly does go on, no matter what happens behind the curtain.
They may not stand under the spotlights, but as applause fills the theater, our stagecraft students can take pride in knowing their work shines just as brightly—illuminating every performance from behind the curtain.
