Jefferson 70th Anniversary

The upcoming 70th Anniversary Celebration at Jefferson Elementary is bringing together elementary, secondary, and community partners in a remarkable collaboration to honor the school’s history and legacy.  Jefferson Elementary counselor Jill Sherman has planned  a come-and-go social event complete with refreshments for the community. The celebration will take place Thursday, November 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Jefferson Elementary.

To help tell the story of Jefferson’s seven decades, Jefferson partnered with Pryor High School Innovation Center students to create engaging visuals that highlight key moments in the school’s history. The high school students transformed ideas into professional-quality vinyl banners, designing and printing graphics that capture each decade of Jefferson’s past.

Finding and curating historical photographs for the project was no small task. Local historian Terry Lamar joined the effort, assisting students with research and image sourcing to ensure each banner accurately reflects Jefferson’s proud heritage.

These banners will debut at the anniversary celebration and later be on exhibit at the Coo-Y-Yah Museum throughout the month of December, allowing the wider community to enjoy Jefferson’s story long after the event.

This anniversary project has truly showcased the spirit of Tiger collaboration, uniting students, educators, and community members to celebrate the school’s lasting impact on generations of Pryor families.

We hope everyone will join us to stroll down Jefferson’s memory lane and celebrate 70 years of learning, leadership, and legacy.
