Pryor High School German language students recently attended Deutschfest 2026 at Oklahoma State University, where they represented Pryor with pride and brought home honors from the statewide event.
Accompanied by their instructor, Dr. Joseph Willis, eight students competed in a variety of events, including Baking, Draw What You Hear, Poetry, Jeopardy, and Vocabulary. The festival brought together approximately 500 German students from six Oklahoma high schools, creating an exciting opportunity for competition, connection, and celebration of language learning.
PHS student Phoenix Rogers earned Second Place in Poetry Recitation, highlighting the strong showing by Pryor students at the event.
In addition to competing, students had the chance to meet German students from across the state and engage with several distinguished guests and representatives. During the event, they met with Dr. Skinner from the State Department of Education, spoke with university recruiters from OSU, OU, and UCO, and visited with Dr. Rico Buchli, the Honorary Consul of Switzerland to Oklahoma.
Experiences like Deutschfest give students the opportunity to apply their learning beyond the classroom while exploring future academic and career pathways. Pryor Public Schools is proud of these students for their accomplishments and for representing PHS so well.
