The Pryor High School basketball season officially tips off tonight inside the Burdick Center. The Tigers will take on the Tulsa Memorial Chargers. Both teams are ready to get going on what should be an exciting year of Tiger Basketball.
The Pryor Girls Basketball Program is looking forward to another great season. They will have a nice balance of upperclassmen and younger players.
“Scrimmages have gone well and we're looking forward to our season opener,” said Girls Head Coach Donnie Martin.
Returning varsity players include: Jonah Daily, Maggie Martin, Peyton Marlett, Rainey White and Anna Raymond. New faces and freshmen include: Brynna Wiginton, Tayla Vance, Journey Nunley, Blake Osborne, Bailey Smith, Nevaeh Chupp, Caylee Kerr. Junior Varsity players include: Izzy Martin, Abby Martin, Reese Marlett, Riley Dorsey, Karli Bennett, Kinlee McAlvain, Rylinn Bowyer, Jilly Whipple.
On the boys side, head coach Nathan Smith is entering his third year leading the program.
"I am very excited for our basketball season to start up. The players that have been in the gym have worked hard to improve their skills and the players coming in from football had a great year on the football field. We are looking forward to meshing them all together," said Smith.
"We are in a new district this season and will get the opportunity to play some schools that we haven't had the chance to play before. We will have some returning players as well as some new faces on our varsity team this year. The team is hoping to continue to improve from the end of last season and what we were able to do this summer," added Smith.
The Junior Varsity Girls game will start at 4 PM with the Boys JV to follow. The Varsity Girls will tip off at 6 PM with the boys to follow.
Please be aware that there is construction happening on the south side of the Burdick Center. Parking will be restricted to the north side and east side of the Burdick Center. Additional parking is available northwest of the Burdick Center as well.
