Softball Team Meeting

The Pryor Tigers softball team is 18-3 and headed to a tournament in Branson, Missouri this weekend. The Tigers are coming off another district sweep on Monday and Tuesday against Sapulpa. They didn't allow a run and scored 23 in the two wins. This weekend, in Branson, will be more than another tournament for a young Pryor squad.

"The Branson trip will be a good team bonding experience," said Chell Looney, Head Coach of the Tigers. "Hopefully we make it to the state tournament and spending the night away from home and playing a tournament will help simulate that. There should be some quality opponents there too."

The Tigers will play three games on Friday and two on Saturday. A big test awaits when they return to Oklahoma, as the district title will be on the line. The Tigers will face the experienced and talented Coweta Tigers.

"Coweta is a good offensive team and they pitch it pretty well," said Looney. "It seems like every year it comes down to our two teams for the district title."

Pryor will travel to Coweta on Tuesday, September 24th, before playing them at home on Thursday.

"Their team is experienced and are used to playing in games like next weeks," added Looney on the Coweta Tigers. "They have been in the state tournament the last 3 years. We will have to play well in all facets of the game to beat them."

First pitch for both district games are scheduled for 5:00 P.M.
