The Pryor Tigers softball team is coming home with the Class 5A State Runner-Up trophy. It was a great run by a special team that finished the season with a record of 38-2-1.
The Tigers cruised to the Championship game after defeating Bishop Kelley 14-4 in the first round of the State Tournament at the Firelake Ball Fields in Shawnee. Pryor collected 12 hits in the win with four being home runs by Caylee Kerr, Payton Jackson, Rhymee Rutherford and Zariah Diaz.
On day two, the Tigers defeated the Duncan Demons, 20-5. Pryor jumped out to the lead with five runs in the first inning, followed by 10 runs in the second. They would add five more runs in the bottom of the fourth as they went on to yet another run rule victory. The Tigers had 11 hits in the game.
Pryor was defeated by Tahlequah in the Championship game, 4-0.
The Tigers graduate five multi-year starters who will all go play softball at the collegiate level. Payton Jackson, Tayla Vance, Coda Taylor, Maya Renshaw and Mckenna Yancey all left their mark on Pryor softball with their work ethic, determination and dedication during their excellent careers. In the last three seasons, Pryor softball has a State Championship (2024), Semi-Finals appearance (2025) and a State Runner-Up (2026).
Congratulations to the Pryor Tigers on an outstanding season!
