JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Bus Driver

Supervisor: Transportation Director

Employment Terms:  Ten (10) month Classified Annual Salary Contract

FLSA Qualification: Non-Exempt

 General Job Description: Drives bus to safely transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule.

 Qualifications: Must have a Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus, Passenger, and Air Brake endorsements.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Transport children and other passengers to and from school.

  2. Obey all traffic laws

  3. Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.

  4. Ensure the safety of all students when entering and leaving the bus.

  5. Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed.

  6. Reports delays or accidents.

  7. Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.

 Work Environment:        Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Job responsibilities may include both inside and outside duties.  Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After-hour work may be required. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

 Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch; lift/move up to 20 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands; repetitive use of finger and hands. 

 Occasional Requirements:  Reach with hands and arms overhead above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.

 Visual Requirements:    Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

 Hearing/Speaking:          Adequate to exchange information.
